Incidence of Dry-AMD

Age-related macular degeneration (AMD) affects approximately 196 million people worldwide as of 2020, with projections suggesting this number could rise to 288–300 million by 2040. 

Dry Age-Related Macular Degeneration is the most common form of AMD, accounting for about 85–90% of all AMD cases.

  • The global prevalence of Dry-AMD is therefore in the order of 170 million   people 
  • This includes an estimated 10% of the population over 65 years of age, and 35% of the population over 85 years of age.
  • Target market for ALVIZON™ is conservatively estimated to be between 5% – 10% of all cases of Dry-AMD or between 8.5 million and 17 million people.
