Rationale for the use of Anti-inflammatories
Eye Co is employing two compounds with proven anti inflammatory effects:
- Fludrocortisone acetate (FA)

- Hemp seed oil

Eye Co is targeting four retinal disease indications involving inflammation:
- DME: involves overproduction of VEGF, (pro-inflammatory cytokine). Excessive anti-VEGF treatment results in MA.
- Dry-AMD: involves chronic inflammation resulting in Geographic Atrophy (GA). Eye Co’s Fludrocortisone Acetate (FA) safety study has been successfully completed in patients with GA.
- Wet-AMD refractile to anti-VEGF. Eye Co is planning to employ FA in combination with anti-VEGF technologies.
- Early AMD: Regular consumption of omega oils is known to reduce the risk of disease progression. Eye Co intends to study the effect of omega rich anti-inflammatory hemp seed oil in early AMD
